MAKING OF

I made this during a stream at https://twitch.tv/re3mr The last time that I made a map for Shoreline I modeled way too many details for individual buildings. These details would be lost over distance & just slow down viewport performance when I was working on it. Now I am focusing on making everything low poly & letting the low res textures do the heavy lifting when it comes to details. As long as people can tell what building it's supposed to be from a distance then it's good enough for the map. Getting the footprint, the height & the primary color somewhere in the same ballpark as the game is the main priority. This is fan art for the game Escape from Tarkov. It depicts buildings that appears in the raid called "Shoreline". I make 3D community maps for fun & as a way of practicing 3D modeling. In these videos I show my process. The textures I used here are either low res textures from textures.com or textures that I made by UV projecting shapes onto a plane. In most cases your name would show up in a place where there is also graffiti in-game in order to maintain the accuracy of the maps. I cant guarantee that it would be visible/readable on the finished map due to the camera angle or size of the tag but it would be visible during my live streams when I work on the map and probably in some of my social media posts.
